Mission to investigate both formation and development of polar stratospheric clouds, denitrification and its causes, chlorine activation, and ozone loss in the Arctic polar stratosphere.
Scheduled for Jan./Feb. 2003.
Large-scale campaign to investigate ozone loss, chlorine activation, and denitrification in the Arctic. ASUR is part of the payload of NASA's DC-8 research aircraft. Campaign base is Kiruna, Sweden.
THESEO / HIMSPEC (1999)
Campaign with DLR's research aircraft Falcon. ASUR measures for the first time with a frequency range extended to 604.3 GHz that allows the detection of HNO3. Campaign areas are the Arctic and Europe.
ILAS / ADEOS validation (1997)
Campaign with the Falcon aircraft with different airbone submillimeter sensors in the Arctic.
Several coincident measurements with the satellite instruments ILAS and GOME are performed.
GOME / ERS-2 validation (1996)
ASUR Campaign with the Falcon aircraft. Campaign base is Kiruna, Sweden. Several co-ordinated measurements with the GOME instrument on board the European satellite ERS-2 are performed for validation purposes.
SESAME III (1995)
European campaign with the DLR's Falcon aircraft. Campaign area is the Arctic. 600 GHz (ASUR) and 500 GHz (RAL) sensors are used.
SESAME I (1994)
First campaign using a helium-cooled SIS mixer (Superconductor-Insulator-Superconductor) that reduces the noise temperature of the receiver significantly. Campaign with the Falcon reasearch aircraft in the Arctic.
MLS / UARS validation (1993)
