Juni 2013 Cooperative Junior Research Group Leader
- The University of Bremen is advertising – conditional to the release of budgetary funds – the following vacancy:
- Cooperative Junior Research Group Leader“Remote Sensing of Ice”
- Salary group TVL E14/15 (for three years with the option of an extension)
- reference number: A66/13
- We are seeking an outstanding young scientist, having an excellent doctorate and publication record, to lead a new cooperative research group. During the past 25 years, the Institute of Environmental Physics (http://www.iup.uni-bremen.de ) in the faculty of Physics and Engineering of the University of Bremen, IUP-UB, has established itself, as an internationally recognized leader in the remote sensing of the Polar Regions.
- In addition successful research cluster in cryospheric science comprises researchers from the IUP-UB and the Climate Sciences Division of the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, AWI (http://www.awi.de ). Current research foci address the use of measurements from instrumentation aboard satellite platforms to retrieve key atmospheric constituents (ozone, water vapour, aerosol polar stratospheric cloud and cloud) and surface parameters ( e.g. sea ice and snow cover, thickness and albedo). They aim to improve our understanding of the fundamental processes taking place in and above the cryosphere and the assessment of the impact of global climate change at high latitudes.

März 2013 - Professur
- The University of Bremen, comprising 250 professorships and 19,000 students, supports a broad range of academic disciplines. The ambition and success of its research strategy is reflected in its being one of eleven universities, selected within the German "Excellence Initiative". In this framework the Faculty 1: Physics and Electrical Engineering of the University of Bremen seeks candidates for appointment as
- Professor Group W2 or W3 – tenured Civil Servant in the research area:
- Inverse Modelling of the Earth System Advertisement No. P 584/13
- The research focus of this post is planned to address the interactions between the earth’s surface (ocean, land and cryosphere) and atmosphere: satellite data supported inverse modelling of surface fluxes being one potential focus. Candidates will most likely have research backgrounds in the following fields: environmental physics, physical climatology, atmospheric physics and physical oceanography.
