University of Bremen IUP/IFE SCIAMACHY WFM-DOAS: Methane v0.5

Methane version 0.5

Version 0.5 of the WFM-DOAS methane product has been finalized in May 2005. Our main product is the dry-air column averaged mixing ratio of methane XCH₄ (in ppbv). XCH₄ is basically the ratio of the retrieved methane column and the simultaneously retrieved column of carbon dioxide obtained from the same channel (channel 6).

So far we have processed all available consolidated SCIAMACHY Level 1 orbit files from the time periode January 2003 - October 2003. We focus on the year 2003 because this is the target year of the EU 5th framework research project EVERGREEN.

The product files also contain the v0.4 CO₂ columns (which have been to used to derive XCH₄), the v0.4 XCO₂ and the v0.4 O₂ columns (which have been used to obtain v0.4 XCO₂).
