Termin: 11.06.2002
Referent/in: Mashrab Kuvatov, Title: Validation of a Radiative Transfer Model with Radiosonde and Satellite Data
The ARTS, Atmospheric Radiative Transfer System, is a new radiative
transfer model developed by the SAT research group at IUP. It can be
used for simulating any millimeter and sub-millimeter instrument for
clear sky cases. AMSU-B is a passive microwave radiometer mounted on
NOAA-15 and NOAA-16 satellites. Its purpose is to obtain data on
global humidity profile of atmosphere.
In this study, to validate the model the simulated brightness
temperatures were compared to AMSU-B brightness temperatures. The
model simulations were based on radiosonde measurements from the DWD
reference station at Lindenberg. The comparison was made for
AMSU-B data from the satellites NOAA-15 and NOAA-16. The time period
of the comparison is the whole year 2001. The process of finding co-located matches in time and space, filtering
mismatches and the results will be discussed during the talk. |
