Helium isotopes in water: an ideal tracer in environmental science?
by

Helium isotopes are emerge from various processes in the earth surface
layers. The sources show large differences in 3He/4He-isotope ratios.
Here an overview of the sources will be presented and application of
helium isotope studies
will be descibed.
From own research helium as tracer for water mass transport will be
introduced. Emphasis will be put on tracer studies in hydrogeology.
Dating of groundwater with the helium-tritium-method will be explained.
An outline on further dating tools should be discussed.
