Title: CH4, CO, CO2, and H2O total column retrieval from SCIAMACHY: Algorithm and first results

The visible/near-infrared nadir spectra of scattered and reflected solar radiation as measured by the SCIAMACHY spectrometer onboard ENVISAT contain information about important gaseous constituents of the Earth's atmosphere: methane, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, water vapor etc. At IUP/IFE (University of Bremen) a first version of a modified DOAS algorithm called WFM-DOAS has been implemented to retrieve total column amounts of the above mentioned gases. The algorithm (including an initial error analysis, weighting functions and averaging kernels) and first results will be presented and discussed.
