2. Zusammenfassung
Im April 1995 startete der europäische Erdfernerkundungs-Satellit
ERS-2, u.a. mit dem Instrument
GOME an Bord, in eine sonnen-synchrone,
fast polare Umlaufbahn. GOME ist ein UV/VIS
Doppelmonochromator-Spektrometer, welches das von der Erde
zurückgestreute und reflektierte Sonnenlicht in Nadir-Geometrie im
Wellenlängenbereich von 240 - 790 nm mit einem
Auflösungsvermögen von 0,2 - 0,4 nm detektiert. Zusätzlich
werden täglich eine Messung der direkten Sonnenstrahlung
durchgeführt.
Seit Anfang 1996 stehen kontinuierlich globale UV/VIS Spektraldaten
zur Verfügung. Aus diesen Spektren lassen sich globale
Verteilungen wichtiger atmosphärischer Spurengase, wie z.B. Ozon,
NO2, OClO, BrO, und Wasser ableiten.
Desweiteren lassen sich u.a. Aerosol- und Wolkenparameter sowie
spektral aufgelöste Bodenreflektionseigenschaften bestimmen. Der
Schwerpunkt der GOME Mission liegt in der Überwachung der globalen
Ozonverteilung und in der Messung weiterer für die Ozonchemie
relevanter Spurengase.
Die Leitung der wissenschaftlichen Beratung des ESA-Projekts GOME hat
das Institut für Fernerkundung / Institut für Umweltphysik
(ife/iup) (Prof. Burrows) inne. Neben wissenschaftlichen
Studien wurden Arbeiten zur Instrumentenkalibration,
Algorithmen-Entwicklung und Validierung der Satellitendatenprodukte
durchgeführt.
Die wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten am ife/iup im Zusammenhang mit GOME
umfassen:
- Spurengasauswertung von BrO, OClO
(Polarregionen) und troposphärischem SO2 (Vulkanausbruch).
- Bestimmung von Wassergesamtsäulen mit Hilfe eines modifizierten
DOAS (Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy) Verfahrens
- Untersuchungen von Emissionen aus der Biomassenverbrennung (NO2,
Formaldehyd, und Ozon) mit Beispiel Indonesien.
- Weiterentwicklung und Optimierung des Auswertealgorithmus FURM
(Full Retrieval Method) zur Bestimmung von Ozonvertikalprofilen unter
Verwendung eines fortgeschrittenen Advanced Optimal Estimation
Inversionsverfahrens und des Strahlungstransportmodells GOMETRAN;
Validierung von GOME Profilen mit kollokierten Ozonsondenmessungen und
anderen Satellitenexperimenten; Erstellen von täglichen 3D
Ozonverteilungen in der Nordhemisphäre im arktischen Frühling
1997-1999; die Bestimmung von höhenaufgelösten Ozonverlustraten in der
Arktis und Untersuchungen von synoptischen 3D Ozonverteilungen z.B.
Ozonminilöcher.
- Vorbereitung und Beginn der GOME
near-real-time Datenunterstützung für die europäisch-amerikanische
arktische Messkampagnen in den Winter 1998/99 und 1999/2000
(THESEO, THESEO2000, SOLVE).
- Berechnung eines GOME Indikators für die Variabilität der solaren
Strahlungsflußdichte mit dem 11 Jahre dauernden Aktivitätszyklus.
- Modellierung der biologisch wirksamen UV Strahlendosis am Boden
unter Hinzunahme der GOME Daten, Teilnahme am UV-Modellvergleich im
Rahmen von COST (European COoperation in the field of Scientific and
Technical research, Aktion: UVB forecast).
3. Anwendungsbeispiele

Abbildung 1: GOME SO2 Messungen in Europa gemittelt
über dem Zeitraum 15-29 Februar 1996. Die erhöhten SO2 Werte
entstammen vermutlich aus den Emissionen aus Kohlekraftwerken in
Bulgarien und Rumänien. Diese Kraftwerke verbrennen stark
schwefelhaltige Kohle. Während dieser Zeit waren die Bodentemperaturen
im Vergleich zu langjährigen Monatsmittel sehr niedrig, so dass
private Haushalte möglicherweise zu den hohen SO2 Werten beigetragen
haben (Eisinger and Burrows, 1999)

Ozonmischungsverhältnis bei 475 K (ca. 19 km Höhe) im arktischen
Frühjahr 1997. Zwischen Mitte Februar und Anfang Mai 1997 wurde ein
chemischer Ozonverlust von 52% ermiitelt. Die gefüllten Punkte sind
die Ergebnisse der GOME Messungen und die Fehlerbalken geben die
1-sigma Standardabweichung für die Mittelwerte wider. Die
durchgezogene Kurve zeigt den Ozonverlauf nach Abzug der diabatischen
Änderungen des Ozons (siehe unterer Plot), die mit Hilfe eine
breitbandigen Strahlungstransfermodell berechnet wurden. Die Steigung
der an die letztere Kurve angepassten Gerade liefert den mittleren
chemischen Ozonabbau, der mit 20ppbv pro Tag berechnet wurde.
