SCIAMACHY Nadir Pixel Size

The large flexibility of the SCIAMACHY operational concept allows for higher spatial resolutions at spectral regions which are of special scientific interest (such as e.g. wavelength ranges where ozone absorption is high).

Therefore, the ground pixel size is not only a function of geographic latitude but also of target species.

The figure below shows typical nadir pixel sizes for different spectral regions which may be associated with certain atmospheric constituents.
