O3-Contour-Plot:
O3-Contour-Plot: MM-wave ozone profiles from February 11, 1997 to March 31, 1998. This plot contains approximately 15.000 single ozone profiles. The time resolution of our Measurement is approximately 1 hour. White lines indicate levels of constant potential temperature. The profiles are available for everybody. Potential PSC area:
Potential PSC area: Area of stratospheric temperatures below the formation temperature of polar stratospheric clouds for 1997 and 1998. Blue: 195 K

Comparison of ClO data with model results:
Comparison of ClO data with model results: Comparison RAM chlorine monoxide and SLIMCAT-model: Cyan: SLIMCAT model calculations on the 475 K ientropic level. Red: Peak mixing ratio of the lower ClO peak of mm-wave measurements. It is evident, that the model can not reproduce the enhanced ClO values after the middle of March.

Comparison of ozone data with model results:
Comparison of ozone data with model results: Comparison RAM ozone and SLIMCAT-model: MM-wave data on the 475 K insentropic level compared to calculations of a 3-d global circulation model. It is evident that the model is not able to reproduce the chemically induced ozone loss correctly. Short period dynamical effects are captured quite well.

O3-loss rates:
O3-loss rates: Soid line: Ozone change due to vortex averaged diabatic descent. Full circles: Observed ozone change averaged over 20 days. Open diamonts: Estimated chemical ozone loss rate.

Ozone on isentropic levels:
Ozone on isentropic levels: Ozone mixing ratio on levels of constant potential temperatures (425 K » 18 km, 475 K » 20 km and 550 K » 25 km). Red:1997, blue: 1998. Changes the ozone mixing ratios over time are a superposition of diabatic descent and chemically induced ozone depletion.
