1982 - 1985 1985 - 1988	Student of Physics at the University of Hannover Student of Physics at the University of Marburg Diploma Thesis in solid state physics: Electron spin resonance and optical absorption spectroscopy of gold atoms in nobel gas matrices.
1989 - 1993	PhD student at the Institute of Environmental Physics (University of Bremen) Dissertation: Development, construction and operation of a ground-based micro-wave radiometer for the detection of stratospheric trace gases
1993 - 1994	Postdoc in the Submillimeter-Group of the Institute of Environmental Physics (University of Bremen) Measurement campaigns in the arctic winter hemisphere using the research aircraft Falcon of the DLR iwithin the framework of the european campaigns
1994 - 1996	Postdoc at the State University of New York in Stony Brook in the group of Prof. R. L. de Zafra Measurements campaigns to Antarctica (Mc Murdo Station and Amundsen-Scott Station at South Pole) using a ground based microwave receiver in the frequency range 260-280 GHz. Studies of chlorine activation and subsidence rates within the polar vortex .
